Breaking News- The Schools Adjudicator's Decision.
Welcome to REACH: Retain Education At Castle Hall

About REACH
Kirklees Council Cabinet have taken the decision to close Castle Hall School completely and expand the pupil numbers at MFG as follows:- 11-16 year olds from 1090 to 1500 places
- 16+ (sixth form) from 270 to 400 places
- A TOTAL OF 1900 WHICH MEANS AN EXTRA 540 PUPILS
WHEN IT COMES TO SCHOOL SIZE, BIG IS NOT BETTER
We believe these proposals are wrong because:
- There are NO educational grounds for this change
- The education of ALL our children will suffer
- The MFG site is incapable of accommodating 1900 pupils without an extensive knock down and re-build programme
- MFG is rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors and Castle Hall has the best GCSE (5 A
- -C including English and Maths) grades of any non-selective school in North Kirklees, thus it is educational vandalism to close one school and destroy the success of the other by making it too big
- With this plan there would be NO parental choice.
Kirklees must be made to listen to Mirfield and Ravensthorpe people or the quality of the education provided in Mirfield will decline. This is an ill thought out plan that is against the wishes of the majority of people in Mirfield and Ravensthorpe. We have only this one chance to save our schools, it is our children’s future that is at stake.
WE CAN STOP THE CLOSURE OF CASTLE HALL AND THE EXPANSION OF MFG, BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO IT
