Kirklees Council Meeting - 15th October.... |
| The news from last night's council meeting is as follows: The council voted on the proposals to scrap the consultation and the result was 35 in favour of scrapping consultations and 10 against. All 6 members of the cabinet abstained. The cabinet now has the authority, if it chooses, to override the decision. We will hopefully find out what will happen from here very soon. If the cabinet decide not to override the decision then this means that the consultation period will end immediately and will have to be restarted at a later date. What this means for the proposals we shall have to wait and see. Parents, teachers and governors are being consulted on the plan, which would see 11 schools shut. The proposal was rejected by 35 votes to 10 at last night’s monthly council meeting.
